2020 Festival venues

Manchester Folk Festival aims  to create the spirit of a festival in a field...

Minus the chemical toilets. And the mud.

The festival itself  takes place across several locations in one compact area of Manchester city centre. All of the venues are within a few minutes’ walk of each other, making it easy to move between concerts, catch up with friends, and just hang around taking in the atmosphere.

The centre of the action is around Whitworth Street West, at HOME, Ritz and Gorilla. All very convenient for Deansgate/Castlefield tram stop, Deansgate and   Oxford Road train stations, several 24hr car parks, and a good few hotels, so you can make a long weekend of it.

The festival maintains some of the best features of its predecessor,  Homegrown, in Bury. It's  intimate, friendly and welcoming, and  with a  central Festival Hub at HOME  where you can spend time relaxing between gigs there's  a real sense of camaraderie and excitement, for that true festival buzz.

Manchester’s most adventurous and welcoming new venue, HOME is the main hub of the festival.

A new Manchester landmark, this stunning arts centre includes theatres, a gallery, cinemas, cafe bar and restaurant.

Manchester Folk Festival will take up residence here for the duration of the festival,  with many of the events taking place in the two theatre spaces and cinemas. There is indoor and outdoor seating and fantastic facilities, so its the ideal spot to meet up with friends and get something to eat, or appreciate a pint and some time to yourself, all in the convivial company of some good folk.

The HOME team will be handling the tickets, so you’ll be redirected to their website (or you can call Box Office on 0161 200 1500). Or if you want to pop in to buy or collect your tickets in person before the festival, they’re open Mon-Sun 12.00-20.00. Whilst you’re at it, we recommend the shepherd’s pie…

HOME is located on the corner of Whitworth Street West and Albion Street, around 3 minutes’ walk from the Deansgate-Castlefield tram stop. It's roughly opposite the Hacienda apartments, and has its back to the main road, as it faces onto the open, pedestrianised space of Tony Wilson Place.

You could pass the time very pleasantly here between gigs. Indulge in a lazy brunch (they do a splendid Eggs Royale), or some ‘fruity drinks’ in the mezzanine Gin Parlour.

Gorilla is close to Oxford Rd train station, about 6 minutes’ walk from Home and 8 minutes from

Deansgate-Castlefield Metrolink tram stop.
