Sacred Harp Singing

An uplifting American choral tradition, the name 'Sacred Harp' refers to the human voice: each tune is sung in four-part harmony, with no musical accompaniment. 


This style of singing has rapidly grown in popularity in the UK in recent years. Come along and sing your heart out.

The Briton's Protection

Manchester’s monthly Sunday Singaround joins us for a Festival special. 


A traditional singaround in an historic pub. It is friendly and informal: just turn up and you’ll be made welcome. Get yourself a drink at the bar, pop upstairs and pull up a chair. Those who can sing can sing, those who want to pick up the choruses can join in, and those who prefer to listen can simply enjoy the convivial atmosphere. 

Family Songwriting workshop

It’ll be welcoming and lively, with a series of fun and engaging games to get the creative juices flowing.

Macramé is seeing a surging revival in its popularity. Discover this versatile craft with textile artist Clare Locker.


In this 2 hour workshop you will learn a range of basic macramé knots and be guided in how to use them to create a beautiful macramé plant hanger. 


All materials are provided including natural wooden hoop, 5mm natural macramé rope, and all tools required.

Master the principles of this modern take on traditional rug hooking with Manchester maker Clare Locker.

Learn how to use a punch needle with a variety of yarn to create your own unique piece of wall art. 


All materials provided, including monks cloth stretched on a wooden frame, punch needle tool, a variety of yarn, and choice of patterns.

Create your own custom design and

draw it straight onto leather in this illustrated purse making workshop with maker Nia Denman. Learn how to handle leather dye pens and then stitch and finish your purse so it lasts a lifetime.

Macramé Wall Hanger

Get involved in the macramé revival with local textile artist, Clare Locker.

In this 2 hour workshop you will learn a range of macramé knots and be guided to use them to create a unique wall hanging.


All tools and materials are provided, including 5mm natural macramé rope, and your choice of copper pipe or wooden dowel, from which to string your hanging.
